Instructions
Combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, garlic, ginger, and water in saucepan.
Heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
Mix cornstarch with water and add to pan.
Simmer until sauce thickens slightly.
Cool before serving.
Notes
The sauce thickens further as it cools.
